One of the advantages of the longer holiday weekends for me is that I can actually sit down and read a book. Recently, I read the book Quiet by Susan Cain. This is a book about how to support “Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking”. After reading the book, I also decided to join the recently launched National Association of Independent Schools ( NAIS) Book club which has been a weekly online interactive webinar about the implications of the book. It has been fun to listen to and participate in the discussion. I will tell you that my introverted side has come into focus while participating as a listener online. My thought has been how at school we can support our students with language based learning disabilities who are introverts. I have talked with a few of our teachers about this interest and how we can discuss further the implications in this extroverted world for our introverted oriented students. Let me know where you think we should start.
