NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Craig Community,

Thank you to all who contributed to our annual Leadership Council service project. This year the council chose the organization Nourish NJ as their benefactor. Under the leadership of Amy Stickley, the Service Project Chairs, Alexa Lockwood and Kathryn McKeever, organized our first-ever Breakfast Bowl. The homeroom teams were challenged to bring in certain items that would combine to make breakfast bags for Nourish NJ to hand out to those in need. Items collected included everything from spoons and napkins to milk and cereal. The students earned 1 yard on a football field for each item notated and a special lunch was promised to the winners. Our 3rd grade homeroom came out on top in terms of the number of items donated and are looking forward to their special lunch!

Our 7th graders went to Nourish NJ yesterday afternoon to bring all the donations and assemble the breakfast bags. They worked together in assembly line fashion and made 200 bags for the organization. While at the facility they learned about the organization's history, how it collects food and monetary donations to fulfill their mission, and about volunteer opportunities. The positive attitudes and impeccable work ethic of our 7th-grade students blew away the staff at Nourish NJ.

Special thanks to Amy Stickley for working with the Service Committee to organize this event, to Laura Given and Niles Furlong for accompanying the 7th graders on their trip to Nourish NJ, and to the students and families that contributed to this successful project.

Enjoy your weekend,
Jen Guthrie
