WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Message from the Head Of School
NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

Dear Badger families,

We are continually integrating more functions from our Veracross learning management system to help all of us stay more informed. One such function is the student directory. As part of your enrollment process, you answered questions about what information you wish to include in a student directory. On your parent portal, you have access to the information that families have opted to share. Through the parent portal, you can also update your preferences to include or exclude the information you wish. Please see the tutorial put together by Renee Hecht. If you have any questions about how to use this function, please contact Renee Hecht, rhecht@craigschool.org or (973)334-1234 ext. 228.

Have a great weekend,

Jen Guthrie

Where to Locate the Student Directory

On the parent portal, there are several buttons related to contact information. While this guide will be focused on searching the directory, the image below highlights the function of some of the other buttons.

1. To search for students: Use the Student Directory button, located in the School Links section.

2. You will be brought to a screen like the one below. To search for students in a specific grade, use the Students by Grade Level button at the bottom.

3. Choose the Grade Level you’re looking for. By default, students will appear in the list alphabetically by Last Name.

4. Search criteria at the top of the results screen can also be used to narrow the search if needed.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Valentine’s Day at The Craig School:

Information will be coming from grade level parents for students in grades 3-5 about sharing Valentines and having a little party. Be on th elook out for that this week. Students in grades 6-8 will have a festive treat in the cafeteria and challenge each other’s Valentine trivia with a Kahoot in the auditorium.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, students have participated in making Valentines for those in assisted living. These Valentines will be brought to local assisted living shelters to make sure everyone feels the warmth this season. Go Badgers!

Pancakes and Procedural Essays?:

It isn’t always easy to get students motivated to write procedural essays. Add in the promise of making what you are writing about, now you’re talking! Mrs. Charniga’s 7th and 8th grade classes researched pancakes and used her mother’s classic recipe to compose informative and accurate procedural essays about making pancakes. One by one, each class is finishing up and taking a day to make, and eat, the pancakes in class. Mrs. Schmitt and Mrs. Guthrie joined the class, learned a lot, and enjoyed the fruits of their labor! I think this picture says it all!

Craig School Friday Twilight Skiing and Snowboarding at Mt. Peters RETURNS starting FEB 28th: We know we have not seen a lot of snow this season but that’s not stopping us from locking up our FRIDAY After school ski dates for this year at Mt. IMPORTANT INFO

Literary Magazine Submissions: As the weather turns colder many of us naturally spend more time indoors. Why not take this opportunity to encourage your child to show off their literary and artistic talents and growth? We are looking for all types of submissions from poems, short stories, drawings, to pictures of models, and more. Please see the flier for other ideas and details. The deadline for entries is fast approaching; Mrs. Miller needs all submissions by the end of March.
