When we say this upcoming week is a short week, we sure mean it! Monday and Tuesday are 12 PM close, and Weds-Fri is our Thanksgiving Break. Based on that, looks like we have to squeeze as much out of our Mon and Tues as we can.
This Monday is the closing window for December lunch delivery orders (www.myfooddays.com) so if you haven’t placed your teen’s December order, no worries. You have this weekend. And let’s close out this week’s CHIL with a Thanksgiving wish and Thanksgiving fact. We wish you all an amazing Thanksgiving and according to the USDA, leftover Turkey has a four-day shelf life. That gives you the long Thanksgiving weekend to enjoy your family and your Turkey!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Dr. Cap

CALLING ALL CHILI CHEFS-Register Your Family Chili for The Annual Craig School Chili Throwdown (Sunday, December 15th): The earliest description of chili comes from an 1828 journal written by J. C. Clopper after a visit to San Antonio. He describes this unique comfort food as "a kind of hash with nearly as many peppers as there are pieces of meat – this is all stewed together." Chili has been around for a long time and has evolved into a variety of types and specialties. That’s where you come in.
We are looking for the best Chili, all types and specialties, that the Craig School Community has to offer. It is time to break out that family recipe and your crock pot and put it to the test! We are looking for Mild to Spicy, traditional to one-of-a-kind. We are also looking to crown a student champ in our “Master Chef Junior” category! You can use the following link to register your Chili (Chili Cook-Off 2024). All you need is a Crock Pot, a Ladle, and a great name for your family chili! Any questions, email Mr. Furlong at NFurlong@craigschool.org

CHS Freshman Vito Takes 1st Place in Bergen County Elks Shootout: CHS 9th grader and resident soccer phenom, Vito took first place in last weekend's ELKS soccer shootout for Bergen County. The Elks Soccer Shootout is a national competition that consists of what they call “The Grid Goal Contest”.
The Grid Goal Contest consists of a full-size goal sectioned off so points can be scored when the ball is kicked into designated scoring sections. Vito took the Bergen District County title and will head to the state finals in January. If he pulls that off, his scores will be sent to the national level and he will be in the running for a potential National Championship Title in his age group!

PACS (Parent Association of the Craig School)
PACS Membership 2024-2025: We are still hoping parents will consider joining PACS in order to support all the fun events at CHS like Winter & Spring Spirit Days, Prom, Senior Events, and Teacher Appreciation Week. You can find the PACS membership forms here: PACS Welcome 24/25. Fill it out, write the check, and send both in with your teen. Please help support our students and teachers!
PACS Faculty Holiday Gift: The Faculty Holiday Gift, organized by PACS, is an annual tradition that allows parents to make a monetary gift to thank ALL faculty and staff while making holiday gifting more manageable for our families by eliminating the need to purchase individual teacher gifts. As you know, here at Craig High, students may have up to 6-8 teachers!
Encouraging participation, however, is not meant to discourage a “gift from the heart” any child might want to craft for a special teacher(s). This year we are suggesting a minimum contribution of $100 per student, however, any amount, either more or less, is certainly welcome – whatever amount is comfortable for your family. The names of all families who participate are included in a festive acknowledgment given when the gifts are presented.
If you would like to participate, please send cash or a check payable by WEDS DEC 11th to "The Craig School-- PACS" by mail to: The Craig School - PACS, 10 Tower Hill Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046 or send it to school with your student in an envelope marked "PACS Treasurer.” Payments can also be made using PayPal sent to pacs@craigschool.org, although other methods are preferred in order to avoid fees. If you have any questions, please contact PACS Treasurer Alex Ruffino at alexsruffino@gmail.com.
