Dear Badger Families,
Our annual Grandfriends’ Day event is right around the corner. Please join us on November 26th for a Wizard of Oz inspired day celebrating literacy. This yearly tradition is held the day before we break for Thanksgiving. It is such a fitting way to spend the day as I know we all leave feeling grateful for our Craig community. An RSVP form with full details is in this newsletter and will be emailed as well.
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer Guthrie

Save the Date: Grand Friends Day, Tuesday, November 26: Mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 8:20 AM to 12:00 PM at The Craig Lower & Middle School! This special event gives your child the opportunity to invite their VIP- whether it’s a grandparent, aunt, uncle, tutor, or close family friend - to spend the day with them. Parents are welcome to join, but it’s not required. We can't wait to celebrate the important people in our students' lives.
CHILI COMMUNITY EVENT
Chili sign ups and Chili cooker sign ups below!
CALLING ALL CHILI CHEFS-Register Your Family Chili for The Annual Craig School Chili Throwdown (Sunday, December 15th): The earliest description of chili comes from an 1828 journal written by J. C. Clopper after a visit to San Antonio. He describes this unique comfort food as "a kind of hash with nearly as many peppers as there are pieces of meat – this is all stewed together." Chili has been around for a long time and has evolved into a variety of types and specialties. That’s where you come in.
We are looking for the best Chili, all types and specialties, that the Craig School Community has to offer. It is time to break out that family recipe and your crock pot and put it to the test! We are looking for Mild to Spicy, traditional to one-of-a-kind. We are also looking to crown a student champ in our “Master Chef Junior” category! You can use the following link to register your Chili (Chili Cook-Off 2024). All you need is a Crock Pot, a Ladle, and a great name for your family chili! Any questions, email Mr. Furlong at NFurlong@craigschool.org
Literary Magazine
The Craig Lower, Middle, and High School are excited to begin the process of accepting submissions for our 3rd Annual Literary Magazine. Our last three Literary Magazine have been nothing short of amazing!
As we get started, we need YOU once again to help make our magazine a great success! Both the Lower-Middle school and High school will have an opportunity to showcase superior works of art including poems, essays, journal entries, short screenplays, photography, sculptures, and drawings. The goal, once again, will be to provide students with a special place to publish their most prized pieces of literature and art. Please encourage your child to participate in this venture. Save any art or special writing pieces that get sent home and consider submitting them to me ASAP!
The Literary Magazine will be published and distributed in June. All student submissions should be sent to me ASAP or no later than March 30, 2022. Spots are limited, so we encourage submissions as work is completed. We ask that a guardian or teacher previously edit all handwritten and typed submissions before being sent to me. That said, we must honor where our students are in their writing, development, & education. We aren’t looking for perfect; we are looking for bravery, creativity, innovation, originality, and above all to foster the love of artistic expression!
Finally, if you are interested in creating our cover page this year, please let Mrs. Kutcher or me know ASAP.
We look forward to your artistic creation & participation!
Best regards,
Mrs. Brielle Miller
