COMMUNITY NEWS

Craig Collecting REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES for the Hazel Project: What began as a few closets full of clothing to donate in Montville has grown into a non-profit movement known as the Hazel Project.  This amazing local organization adheres to the principles of harm reduction in society by supporting those in need including the growing number of homeless throughout the tri-state area.  It was founded by Montville resident, Rachel Tanzalo-Sullivan during the COVID pandemic and named for her grandmother, Hazel.  It continues to support others through clothes drives, food drives, and necessity gift bags.  Their latest drive is collecting reusable water bottles which will be donated to people in need.

We have set up a Hazel Project box on both our campuses and our NHS has blanketed the schools with flyers.  We will be collecting water bottles for the next couple of weeks.  It is a great opportunity to clean out your cabinets and play those unused water bottles forward.  Students can drop off bottles during morning arrival. Thank you 10th grader Ava for spearheading the collection and to the Lagomarsino family for introducing us to this great organization which began here in Montville!

Maya, Craig High Class of 2020, Graduates Centenary University:

CHS Class of 2020 Alum, Maya will be receiving her BA in Elementary Education with a Special Education Certification from Centenary University this May.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, she also was the student recipient of the Cathleen Benedict Memorial Scholarship “For the graduating student-teacher who exemplifies Professor Cathy Bendict’s belief that all students can learn and that every child deserves a champion” and is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon (Honors Organization for Education Majors).  Congrats to Maya!  We are so proud.
