CHS Afterschool Intramural Bowling League Hits the Lanes This Week:  The CHS Afterschool Intramural Bowling League will be starting up this THURSDAY, February 13th.  We will get our bowlers to the lanes from school but parents will need to arrange for pick up at the Boonton Lanes (520 Myrtle Avenue, Boonton, NJ) at 4:30 PM.

We will also cover the cost of bowling and shoes but students will be responsible for any snacks and drinks from the concession stand.  Our 4-week league runs this Thursday, February 13th, followed by the next few Thursdays (Feb 20th, 27th, and March 6th).  Any questions, email our Bowling Coordinator, Ms. Crum at JCrum@craigschool.org

Craig School Friday Twilight Skiing and Snowboarding at Mt. Peters RETURNS starting FEB 28th:  We have coordinated with MT. Peters in Mawah to ski/snowboard after school (4:00 PM start- ends 9:00 PM) on Friday, February 28th and Friday, March 7th.  In order to join us and to take advantage of the Craig Group pricing, you must submit all forms and pay online by using the following link https://shop.mtpeter.com/groups and the group code: Craig25

Might be Dr. Cap but we are not sure!

Helmets are a must for all skiers and snowboarders.  Families must provide their own transportation to the mountain so students should find out what other students might be hitting the slopes and see if they can carpool.  If you can not attend both Friday dates, you can still sign up at https://mtpeter.com You just won’t get the group discount.  Any questions reach out to Mr. Furlong at NFurlong@craigschool.org

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to Super Bowl weekend! Thank you to all of our Craig High Community who supported the CHS National Honor Society “Souper Bowl” Soup Can drive leading into this year's Super Bowl.

In addition to supporting our local food pantry,  our final soup can totals have given us the Super Bowl winner and the final score.  Here is what the soup has told us:

KC CHIEFS 35

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 24

TAYLOR SWIFT 14 sightings

The cans have spoken!  Have an amazing Super Bowl filled with the big three F’s-family, friends, and food.  Go Chiefs and Taylor,

Dr. Cap

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS

10th Grade WRITING Class-A Thought-Provoking Debate on the Ending of Of Mice and Men:  During a recent study of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, our 10th-grade students engaged in a dynamic and thought-provoking debate to explore one of the novel's most controversial moments: George's decision to end Lennie’s life. Using formal debate structures, students researched, prepared, and presented well-structured arguments, analyzing the moral and emotional implications of George’s choice.

The debate saw students take on roles as both supporters and opponents of George's decision. Each participant delivered a clear opening statement, followed by rebuttals to challenge opposing views, cross-examined their peers with insightful questions, and concluded with strong closing statements that reinforced their stance. This exercise encouraged critical thinking and allowed students to dive deeper into the ethical questions posed by the text, engaging with themes of loyalty, morality, and personal responsibility.

The activity not only fostered a deeper understanding of Of Mice and Men, but also helped students hone essential skills in public speaking, argumentation, and respectful discourse.
