COMMUNITY NEWS

Leadership Council

The Council has been very busy. Every Tuesday is our full Council meeting where we have our committee updates and Leader Lessons. We discussed Coach K, the famous Duke University Basketball coach, and his metaphor for teamwork with a fist. Ask your leader what each finger represents. It is a powerful reminder that a team is only effective when they work together, not individually.

The Dyslexia Awareness Committee is preparing for its event on October 26th. Natalia and Michael the co-chairs have been leading their committee members who have crafted a new idea this year.

The Halloween committee led by Molly and Matias have been brainstorming new games and ideas for the upcoming party and deciding which ones we can’t do without.

The Buddy Program chaired by Erin, Bennett, and Gabby have been working diligently to match the buddies and develop this program. Our first meeting is on October 30.

Veterans Day Committee led by Joel and John are crafting a beautiful day for our veterans. There will be a school-wide assembly, followed by a luncheon. If you have a veteran in your family and they are able to attend, please email lgiven@craigschool.org. If they are unable to attend, we would still love to know about them. Could you send a photo, their branch and dates of service? Send to lgiven@craigschool.org   Ms. Kutcher is making a Wall of Heros.

The Fall Service Committee will begin meeting shortly. We will be partnering with Morris Family Services and providing unwrapped gifts for babies through age 12.

PACS Lower/Middle

Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for Coffee and Conversation Tuesday. It was a wonderful way for our Badger parents to come together. Many Thanks to Mrs. Schmitt, Mrs. Gutherie, and Mrs. Calvano for spending the time with us.

NOTES FROM DIRECTOR

Dear Badger Families,

Next Friday, October 27th is Halloween at The Craig Lower and Middle School. Students may wear their costumes to school or can change after lunch. Families are welcome to watch our parade and to participate in Trunk or Treat. If you would like to decorate your trunk or would like to help out by donating candy, please see the information emailed from PACS. In addition, grade-level parents will be contacting you about how you can participate in the Halloween celebrations they are planning. We will parade around the school in our costumes at 1:00 and trunk or treat will take place from 1:30-2:45. The groups will participate in trunk or treat a few at a time and will be doing crafts and games in their classrooms for the remainder of the afternoon. The 7th and 8th graders are having a party in the cafeteria planned by the peer leaders. Please join us for the afternoon of activities if you are able.

When you are planning your child’s Halloween costume, please do not send any weapons to school. If you take your child home from Trunk or Treat, please make sure to sign them out with Gabriella Beck at the front office. Students may wear their costumes to school on Halloween as well.

Have a great weekend,

Jennifer Guthrie

Director of the Lower & Middle School
